Cross-domain consent in Secure Privacy allows you to collect and share visitor consent across multiple domains or subdomains using a single cookie banner — so users do not need to give consent again when navigating between sites in the same group. Watch the demo to see how it works:

Who Is This For?

  • Website administrators and developers managing multiple domains that share the same audience and consent requirements

  • Marketing teams reducing consent friction for visitors navigating between related websites or subdomains

  • Enterprise organizations implementing consistent consent management across a portfolio of domains using Secure Privacy

When propagating the same consent record across multiple domains, ensure your implementation complies with applicable privacy laws and regulations — including GDPR and ePrivacy requirements. It is strongly recommended to consult your legal team to verify that cross-domain consent sharing meets the jurisdictional requirements for each domain in the group.

  1. Install the Secure Privacy script on all domains that will be part of the same consent group.

  2. In your Secure Privacy dashboard, go to All Domains and open the Settings page.

  3. Scroll right to locate the Domain Consent Group column.

  4. Edit the Domain Consent Group value for each domain that should share consent.

  5. Ensure the group label is identical for all domains in the group — for example, GroupA. The label is case-sensitive.

  6. Save your changes. Cross-domain consent is now active for all domains in the group.

Common Issues and Fixes

Verify that the Secure Privacy script is correctly installed and loading on all domains in the consent group. A missing or incorrectly placed script on any domain will prevent consent from syncing to that domain.

Group label mismatch

Confirm that the Domain Consent Group label is exactly the same across all domains in the group — including capitalization and spacing. Even a minor difference will prevent the domains from being recognized as part of the same group.

Frequently Asked Questions

There is no fixed limit on the number of domains in a consent group. Assign the same group label to as many domains as needed. Ensure the Secure Privacy script is installed on every domain in the group for consent to sync correctly.

Yes. Cross-domain consent can be configured to share consent between entirely separate domains as well as between a root domain and its subdomains — provided all are assigned the same Domain Consent Group label and have the Secure Privacy script installed.

Cross-domain consent sharing can be GDPR-compliant in certain circumstances — but this depends on the specific domains involved, their privacy policies, and how consent was originally obtained. Always consult your legal team before enabling cross-domain consent to confirm it meets the requirements applicable to your organization and jurisdictions.
